CHAPTER 8

It had been a couple of days since the arrival of my so-called familiar. I climbed up the spiral staircase and entered Frosty's loft area. Looking around, I surveyed the space and turned to Frosty, who was settling into his human-sized bed. With my usual monotone and serious demeanor, I spoke up.

"Is everything to your liking up here, Frosty? Do you need anything?"

A small desk sat by the window, showcasing Frosty's organized side. On it, I noticed a collection of books on avian behavior and bodyguard techniques, evidence of Frosty's commitment to his role. Next to the desk, a wardrobe held a selection of stylish sunglasses, reflecting Frosty's penchant for accessorizing and maintaining his bodyguard image.

Frosty looked up from fluffing his pillow, a twinkle in his eye. "Oh, Chloe, my dear friend, everything is just perfect. This cozy bed is quite delightful, and I have all I need right here."

I raised an eyebrow, slightly puzzled by his contentment. "Are you sure? It's important to me that you're comfortable and have everything you require."

Frosty chuckled, his feathers ruffling with amusement. "Chloe, I'm a rooster who now sleeps in a human-sized bed. I couldn't ask for more. But I appreciate your concern."

I nodded, my stoic expression softening just a touch. "Well, if you do happen to need anything, please don't hesitate to let me know."

Frosty hopped off the bed, his wings spreading slightly as he approached me. "Chloe, my role is to ensure your safety and well-being, not the other way around. But thank you for your consideration."

I inclined my head, acknowledging his words. "Very well, Frosty. Just know that I'm here if you ever need assistance."

With a wide smile, Frosty gave me a playful wink. "Rest assured, Chloe, I'm more than capable of taking care of myself. But I appreciate your offer. Now, let's focus on the task at hand."

I nodded again, my serious demeanor returning. "Agreed. We have work to do, starting with finding that elusive voodoo doll."

As we prepared to delve into our paranormal investigation, I couldn't help but appreciate Frosty's light-hearted energy and his ability to bring a touch of humor to our serious endeavors. Together, we were an unlikely duo, but our unique dynamic seemed to work.
